General Manager – Mining Operations

SUMMARY:
Our client has an opportunity available for a General Manager: Mining Operations, based in the Burgersfort, Limpopo area.

POSITION INFO:

Requirements:

• B degree/B Tech in Mining Engineering is essential
• Valid Blasting Certificate & Mine Manager’s Certificate is essential
• Minimum of 5 year’s working experience as an appointed Mine Manager is essential
• Minimum of 15 years mining related working experience, preferably in a conventional narrow reef mining environment is essential 
• Computer literacy (MS Office) is essential
• Job related knowledge and exposure to the following fields are essential:
• Stopping
• (Mine) development
• Shafts
• Project/methodologies
• Survey, Ventilation, Rock engineering, Geology, Accounting, Engineering
• HR & employee relations (ER/IR)

KPAs:

• Develop and implement the strategic plan for the mine and directly assist the Operations Executive in the strategic management process
• Ensure production targets and profit margins are achieved cost-effectively on a sustainable basis for the mine
• Track and report on progress in delivering the mining strategic and operational plans
• Implement and maintain sound people management practices to ensure a productive workforce
• Ensure environmental and corporate social investment concerns are managed as a strategic focus area.
