General Manager

SUMMARY:
Responsible for providing leadership in the operation related to strategy, people, financial outcomes and scorecard metrics.

POSITION INFO:

Role Output and Accountabilities:

• Leads the development and deployment of manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement.
• Establish systems to collect data for productivity analysis and set performance targets that will meet revenue and cost plans.
• Oversee implementation of initiatives to reduce spoilage and improve efficiencies
• Quality: ensure customer service excellence through implementation of quality systems and standards.
• Provide guidelines and parameters for maintenance planning to achieve cost optimisation.

Makes decisions guiding productivity, quality, and cost efficiency of plant operations.

Finacial Perfomance:

• Financial indicators: accountable for budget planning and monitoring, reporting on overall plant financial performance.
• Recapitalisation: through the capex and project management methodology, drive implementation of capital projects and ensure ROI and IRR are realised within set time frames.
• • Safety: Ensures robust plant safety and security procedures are in place and that the operation is in compliance with all required regulations.
  • Audits: ensures the operation conducts audits across functions and recommendations are implemented.
  Legislation, policies and procedures: ensure compliance to legislation across functions
• • Learning and development: Ensure learning and development interventions are in place to build functional knowledge and close skill gaps.
  • Values: lead the communication on company values
  • Performance: Develops specific objectives for teams and oversee the performance planning and review process for the operation.
  • Stakeholder management: Communicate and consult with stakeholders on organisational changes
  Work in collaboration with the team in the operation to manage relationships with Union

Ensure Functional Intergration of Internal processes

• Directs plant level support functions including finance, engineering, logistics, quality assurance, and human resources to ensure alignment with overall plant operations.
• Sales: facilitate the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process.

Inventory: ensure integration of work-flows across functions to minimise inventory levels

• Manufacturing / Supply Chain, Engineering or Commercial Degree
• Honours Degree
• 5-7 years managerial experience
• Experience in a FMCG manufacturing environment
• 5-7 years post graduate business experience
