General Manager - Ferrometals

SUMMARY:
Our client in the Mining Industry, has an opportunity available for a General Manager - Ferrometals in the Witbank, Mpumalanga area.

POSITION INFO:

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Metallurgical, Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical discipline
• 10 years’ relevant experience, preferably 5 years’ managerial experience in management of Metallurgical plant operations including in-depth experience in managing overall operations of Smelter operations
• Master’s degree in technical discipline, Business Administration or commercial studies will be advantageous
• Broad experience with production, maintenance and engineering
• Significant level of exposure to, and familiarity with, Ferrochrome production equipment, processes and customer base
• Must have very good organizational and leadership abilities

KPAs:

• Direct and manage the business unit - Ferrometals
• Manage SHEQ compliance within the Function through effective use of the Toolbox
• Manage labour stability by minimising labour turnover
• Ensure Customer Satisfaction by ensuring that ferrochrome produced meets the highest international standards of quality in line with market and customer requirements
• Manage Continuous Improvement through Operational Excellence
• Ensure effective cost control systems are in place with reference to operating and capital expenditure
