POSITION INFO:

Qualifications and Experience

• Tertiary qualification (Engineering, Health and Safety related). Postgraduate preferable.
• 15 years of experience in both the mining industry and health and safety and/or SHEQ management.
• Knowledge and understanding of the legislation, standards and bylaws applicable to SHEQ.
• Knowledge required to set up and execute a strong SHEQ strategy
• Knowledge of contracting in a technical service industry
• General knowledge of Mining business processes.

Key Result Areas:

• Assist the CEO and the executive committee with capital and resource allocation decisions that support the development of a healthy and safe working environment
• Assist EXCO in monitoring the enterprise’s critical SHEQ risks
• Develop and implement an approved strategy for SHEQ management
• Assist management with integrating SHEQ risk management into the strategic planning process
• Develop, drive and communicate SHEQ initiatives and relevant policies
• Monitor SHEQ risk across the enterprise
• Ensure the organisation is ISO 45000 compliant and necessary legal registers are in place
• Drive the development of the health and safety management team through strong leadership
• Facilitate sharing of best SHEQ risk management practices across the enterprise
• Facilitate Group SHEQ risk assessments and monitor the capabilities
• Drive the appropriate SHEQ Management culture in the business
• Develop measurement and monitoring methodologies to aggregate SHEQ exposure internally
• Drive the use of new technology to ensure efficient and effective H&S reporting and management
• Contribute to the production of annual sustainability report
