SUMMARY:
Top opportunity for an experienced General Manager with a background of at least 5 years in WASTE management. An MBA or equivalent technical qualification combined with extensive knowledge of the hazardous waste industry is essential. The ideal candidates will also have strong leadership, communication and management skills.

POSITION INFO:
Essential Requirements:

  • Master Degree, an MBA in management or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years working experience in waste management.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of rules and regulations for solid and liquid hazardous waste treatment activities as well as current applicable federal, state and local laws.
  • Extensive knowledge in the process and development of technologies relating to landfill leachate with potential mix of other hazardous waste.
  • Ability to independently manage, develop and organise at the Operational, Commercial, Technical, HR and Financial levels        
  • Member of the Executive Committee of the KZN Region
  • Excellent computer literacy with the ability to use standard or custom software applications
  • Proven track record in highly unionized staff management.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.        
  • Knowledge in the process and development of technologies related to landfill leachate with potential mix of other liquid hazardous waste.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Defining and implementing strategies for Finance, Operations, HR, Communications and Business Development.
  • Implementation of strategies and policies defined with the general management.
  • Ensuring profitability by optimizing the means implemented and implementing progress actions.
  • Following up on relationships with shareholders and local stakeholders.
  • Review and analyse M&A opportunity
  • Implementing HR strategies and requirements and the level required to carry out activities.
  • Establish and maintain budgets and all financial policies of the contract.
  • Guarantee stern implementation of QHSE guidelines and procedures to OHSA for SA
  • Preparation and presentations of reports, findings and recommendations
  • Undertaking of full responsibility of the P&L
