SUMMARY:
Well established company on the East Rand seeks a General Manager - air cargo operations

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and/or National Diploma in relevant field
Extensive knowledge of aviation/air cargo handling activities
Minimum 10 years’ experience in a senior leadership / Executive
Knowledge of Dangerous Goods advantageous
Air Cargo Security knowledge

Duties will include:

Provide leadership and guidance to the employees
New business opportunities to enhance the productivity and efficiency of the business
Identify potential new airline customers
Regular contact with management team
Regular contact with local customer airline management
Liaise with local airport authority, SA Customs and government bodies
Plan, organize and manage headcount
Coach, lead, mentor, and develop the senior management team
Workforce Optimisation Manager, Facility & GSE Manager, and Finance Executive
Leadership and guidance to the employee complement
Oversee all business management activities at the airfreight cargo terminals in South Africa
Optimize resource and materials management and productivity analysis
Ensure KPI’s are monitored by operational management and targets are achieved
Drive Continuous Improvement and Performance Excellence in line with the Company’s global strategy
Ensure that safe and healthy working environments
Develop revenue and expense budgets
Manage impacts on budget and costs to drive profitability, and assume P&L responsibility for the
Company, ensuring that expenses are managed in line with revenue and budget
Lead commercial, marketing, and sales efforts to secure new customers
Develop business strategies to enhance productivity, efficiency, and service delivery in the cargo terminals
