SUMMARY:
We are looking for someone an energetic and passionate individual who will develop and carry our geophysical studies and other services on behalf of our clients.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Post graduate degree in Geology or Geophysics.
  • Five or more years in a similar role within the environmental or resource industry
  • Working Knowledge of MapInfo GIS, ArcGIS, Global Mapper, Surfer, Geotomo and/or other equivalent mapping, surveying, processing, or interpretation programmes.
  • Willing to travel throughout Africa and elsewhere, as the need arises
  • Strong entrepreneurship and innovative thinking


Duties:

  • Perform surveys with a comprehensive range of geophysical methods and equipment in support of groundwater and environmental studies.
  • Define survey objectives and design survey approach.
  • Acquire background information, check accessibility of survey area, determine survey layout, indicate necessary clearance activities.
  • Download, process, data quality check, modelling of inversion profiles (for 2D Resistivity data) and presentation of geophysical data.
  • Analyse the resulting geophysical data, mainly in relation to groundwater flow paths and and/or contaminants and provide an interpretation of results which will be used for a wide range of uses – determination of water bearing layers, wall stability issues, contaminant plume extents, identification of geological structures.
  • Knowledge of other disciplines in the Water & Geosciences team such as hydrogeology, surface water, hydropedology and geochemistry.
  • Any experience in geotechnical investigation and downhole geophysics would be favourable.
  • Working in close collaboration with specialists from other disciplines.
  • Keep up-to-date with the newest developments in geophysics, best practices, frameworks and standards, and communicating those relevant to internal and external stakeholders and using this information to develop new services and client offering.
  • Forming and maintaining a network of relationships to support Geophysics Business efforts.
  • Networking and growing strong relationships with clients and other partners in the market.
  • Liaising with clients and authorities.
  • Actively participating in business development and marketing activities
