Group Accountant

• Minimum of related degree in Accounting required
• Professional Accounting qualifications, for example, CA or CFA would be an added advantage
• Knowledge of the Companies Act, King IV on Corporate Governance
• Minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years of working experience in a finance environment covering most finance discipline.
• Experience in a Consulting or Researching industry would be an added advantage
• Experience in Sage Evolution.
• Supervisory or management experience would be an added advantage.

Duties but not limited to:

Strategic Planning

• Strategy sessions contributions, inputs and presentations.
• Input to drafting of organisational policies and procedures especially in finance area
• Product-based budget aligned to strategic objectives after obtaining inputs from all relevant stakeholders

• Review that transactions are captured correctly and in the correct accounts by bookkeeper based on company knowledge
• Ensure that accounting transactions are recognised in line with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) both in Management Accounts and Annual Financial Statements – revenue recognition; calculation of cost of sales; recognition of discounts; treatment of related-party transactions, recognition of inventory, monthly accruals, smoothing of lease contracts, etc.
• Submit weekly reports to Senior Management Forums
• Prepare and submit Management Accounts 2 nd of every month in line with approved format and standards for the group .
• Prepare, submit and present Monthly EXCO reports .
• Prepare, submit and present Board Reports according to contracted timelines
• Prepare the following reconciliations on a monthly basis in line with contracted standards and best practice:
• Bank reconciliations o Work-in-progress o Debtors – trade o Staff debtors o Creditors o Inventory & stock count o Credit Cards o Petrol Cards
• Ensure that financial information is aligned among all systems and that differences are reconciled between Pastel, Artofact, Hubspot, MI, Yellowfin, etc.
• Preparation of Invoices according to clients’ contracts and sales reports
• Preparation (or review thereof) and release of payments according to approved projections and ensure they are supported with appropriate documentation
• Ensure Repetitive invoices are raised monthly in line with the schedule
• Prepare Cash Flow Projections and present to Management highlighting risks and make investment recommendations
• Manage Collections (debtors outstanding days) by reviewing Debtors Ageing and making follow -ups with clients re: long outstanding amounts
