SUMMARY:
A large Durban based packaging company requires a Group Buyer who will be responsible for ensuring the Company selects the most appropriate goods and services based on price, quality, delivery times and services support.
POSITION INFO:
Essential Requirements:
- Matric Plus a related degree/Diploma qualification
- 3-5 years experience in manufacturing procurement
- High level of computer literacy in MS office packages
- Planning and Organising skills
- Experience in foreign payments
- Strong financial acumen
Roles and responsibilities:- Place orders with suppliers and prioritise critical orders to ensure production is not negatively impacted
- Update schedule of purchases on the system; compile, track, monitor and distribute reports
- Forecasting likely levels of demand for services, products and/or component parts to be used in any manufacturing process.
- Conducting research to ascertain market trends and needs.
- Manage orders for Dies and report on monthly orders
- Liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers.
- Developing purchasing policies and procedures
- Identifying potential suppliers; negotiate and authorize contracts and monitor their progress.
- Processing payments and invoices.
- Keeping contract files and using them as reference.
- Ensuring suppliers are aware of business objectives, policies and procedures, reviewing increases etc.
- Checking costs, quality and levels of service.
- Monitor stock levels to maximize business efficiency.
- Book Forex rates; Manage marine insurance; Advance/terminate forex payments
- Amend unit rate on purchase orders to reflect landed costs
- Manage forex schedule and landed costs
- Comply with laws and regulations
- Other reasonable general duties within skills and capabilities that may be required per operational needs
