Group Financial Manager (Construction Industry)

SUMMARY:
The position is that of Senior Financial Manager (SFM) as the top financial management position in the Group, responsible for the management of all financial matters in the Group. As such, the SFM will report directly to the CFO and CEO and on operational matters work alongside the COO.

SCOPE OF SERVICES

The position is that of Senior Financial Manager (SFM) as the top financial management position in the Group, responsible for the management of all financial matters in the Group. As such, the SFM will report directly to the CFO and CEO and on operational matters work alongside the COO.

The following is, amongst other, the scope of services of the SFM:

 Managing the financial and accounting staff complement as well as the human resources (HR) staff

Overseeing the continuous recording of accounting entries on the accounting system (currently Sage: Evolution)

Management of all bank accounts and cash management

Attend to short term insurance policies and negotiate premiums

Responsibility for the Group Provident Fund 

Overseeing IT requirements for the group

Negotiating and implementing office leases

Negotiating and implementing operating leases for telecoms, printers, servers etc.

Negotiating with supporting service and software providers such as Sage, IT support etc.

Relationship management and negotiations with the Group’s bank

Authorisation and management of payments to service providers, salaries, suppliers etc.

Management of the issuing of Tax Invoices to Clients

Management oversight of Debtors and Creditors management

Review of salaries and implementing salaries, overseeing Payroll implementation

Attending to UIF, COIDA and other legislative requirements

Attending to all SARS matter, Income Tax, VAT, PAYE etc.

Attending to tax planning with the Group auditors

Preparation of monthly trial balances, balances sheets and income statements and the consolidated management accounts

Management of the cash flow, income and expenditure of the Group with the CEO

Monthly financial reporting to the Management Committee, the Audit and Risk Committee

Quarterly financial reporting to the Board of Directors

Serving as a member of the Management Committee (Manco)

Serving as a non-voting member of all the Board Committees

Compiling annual budgets covering 5 years at a time

Attending board meetings and financial presentations to the Board of Directors

Compiling quotations for new assignments or contracts

Compiling pricing for tenders

Over-all financial planning

Monitoring and managing the Group Risk Register

Coordinate the Audit Committee requirements

Attend to adhoc shareholder requests

WORK EXPERIENCE

Candidates should have at least 10 years (including training) of work experience in a financial management position or as a senior manager in financial management of a private company including consolidation in the Group. Work experience in the building sector or with built environment consulting companies of a comparable size , will be taken into account. Exposure to the dealing with the public sector will be an added advantage and be taken into account. Experience that fits with the scope of services, will be an added benefit and be taken into account.

QUALIFICATIONS

The applicants should have at least a Honours degree in accounting or similar and have completed his/her articles with a reputable accounting firm. Having qualified as a chartered accountant is not a requirement, but will be an added benefit.
