SUMMARY:
A company in Pretoria is looking for an Human Resource Manager to contribute & enable a strategic and holistic approach to HR development, by guiding all Human Resources functions. The role is responsible for developing HR policy and executing activities including; legal compliance, recruiting, onboarding, benefits, HR related IT systems, compensation, employee relations, learning & development, training, and organizational development.

POSITION INFO:
Section B: Key Duties This section comprises the main duties, not limited to the following:
Strategic focus:
Translate business strategies into customized, HR programs and ensure full process chain from concept development to delivery. Drive employee engagement strategy by partnering with business leaders to implement employee engagement strategies, such as development of talent systems, mentoring programs, succession planning, and more.
Develop new starter orientation and onboarding experiences for new employees, to identify high potential individuals, determine work abilities, and professional support needed to engage and retain new talent.
Develop, implement and facilitate bespoke leadership development programs.
Operational focus:
Advise and coach managers on HR policies and programs including employee relations issues.
Manage daily departmental operations, business planning and budget development of HR programs.
Ensure policies, procedures and HR programs are consistently administered, aligned with organizational goals and are in compliance with professional standards, state and federal regulatory requirements and laws.
Plan, manage and coordinate all human resources initiatives; recruitment, compensation, benefits, training and employee relations of an organization- as detailed below:
Analyse wage and salary reports and data to determine competitive compensation plan.
Writes directives advising department managers of Company policy regarding equal employment opportunities, compensation, and employee benefits.
Consults legal counsel to ensure that policies comply with relevant legislation & standards.
Develops and maintains a human resources system that meets top management information needs.
Oversees the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by law or local governing bodies, or other departments in the organization.
Oversees the administration of the HR Software.
Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance. Studies legislation, arbitration decisions, and collective bargaining contracts to assess industry trends.
Writes and delivers presentations to BOD, Executive team as required, regarding human resources policies and practices.
Recruits, interviews, tests, and selects employees to fill vacant positions.
Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward Company goals.
Keeps records of benefits plans participation such as insurance and pension plan, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting.
Coordinates management training in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment.
Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
Administers performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within organization. Administers salary administration program to ensure compliance and equity within organization.
Administers benefits programs such as life, health, and dental insurance, pension plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance.
Oversees injury on duty investigations in consultation with the appointed Health & Safety Officer.
Chairs the Health & Safety Committee meetings.
Conducts wage surveys within labour market to determine competitive wage rate.
Prepares budget of human resources operations.
Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
Prepares reports and recommends procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover.
Represents organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent Work experience
5-7 years’ Experience in Corporate HR, in particular HR Planning & Steering, Compensation, Grading & Benefits
Exposure to change interventions & governance.
Additional skills: special skills / technical ability etc.
Consultancy & General HR skills – role will require successful collaboration with the business managers, to implement employee development strategies, hence a good knowledge base of the HR area is key.
Collaboration – working with various leadership stakeholders to steer overall talent development strategies is an essential task for this role.
Analytical thinking: the ability to collect, gather, and analyse data and present concise actionable results. Strategic planning; Business acumen; Problem solving; Ethical practice; Excellent leadership, Relationship management
Communication skills – building strong relationships is a must-have skill to connect with fellow leaders and employees. Advanced competency: Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
