HEAD OF VERTICAL FASHION DESIGN -- CAPE TOWN

SUMMARY:
You will oversee and manage all aspects of the company’s Design centre that is based in Cape Town.

POSITION INFO:

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

• Manage operational functions and processes of the Design centre.
• Managing the Design team of designers and pattern makers
• Managing the Sample room of cutters and sample machinists
• Managing pre-production team of brand coordinators/merchandisers and assistants
• Managing production team
• Managing QC team
• Managing and implementing all critical paths for the various teams from costings, fabric and trims sourcing and procurement to garment delivery
• Product development
• Seasonal fabric workshops
• Managing and control of all raw material and trims
• Managing and growing the CMT department
• Managing expenses in line with budgets
• Managing grading and marking
• Cost tracking
• Manage all staff daily needs
• Responsible for on time deliveries''
• Responsible for the bulk quality of what''s delivered
• Daily and weekly reporting into the CEO''s

 

QUALIFICATION/ EXPERIENCE:

• A diploma / degree in a relevant field
• Minimum 10 years operational management experience
• Proven track record of delivering apparel into the major SA retailers
• Proven track record of managing a Design Centre
• Deep understanding of the SA garment industry
• Deep understanding of apparel
• Deep understanding of local and international fabric and trim sources of supply
• Extensive experience in product design and development
• Deep Technical knowledge of garment construction and costings
• Proficiency to manage a diverse workload and assign priorities to tasks
• Advanced excel and reporting capability with proven experience in budgeting
• Strong communication and presentation skills
