HEALTH SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT DIRECTOR: MIDDLE EAST AFRICA REGION (EE - Female Preferred)

SUMMARY:
Looking for a Very Senior, Experienced, HEALTH SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT DIRECTOR: MIDDLE EAST AFRICA REGION with experience from Heavy Duty Environments that are highly regulated e.g. Engineering, Construction, Mining, Oil, Forecourts, Fleet Industries etc., based in Gauteng, servicing the Middle East Africa Region.

POSITION INFO:

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

• Ø To lead and drive a culture of Health & Safety across the company in Middle East Africa (MEA).
• Ø Responsible for the Management, Development, Implementation and Maintenance of the Company’s HSE Systems & Policies.
• Ø To ensure Company’s MEA is 100% compliant with Legislations in the areas we are operating in, across all business units.
• Ø The HSE Manager will also be responsible for driving a Safe Culture and expected to spend a significant amount of their time researching trends and pro-actively designing and implementing risk-mitigation measures, particularly in times like these of Covid-19 Pandemic.
• Ø Serves as a member of the MEA Leadership (EXCO) Team and responsible to facilitate the achievement of the company’s strategic goals and objectives especially as it relates to Health Safety & Environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ø Develop, Implement and Maintain Safety Policies And Procedures.
• Ø Plan and Participate in the Annual Audit Plan and conducting Management System Audits, Annually.
• Ø Review the Monthly HSE Statistics before they are communicated.
• Ø Annual alignment of Company’s Global Targets with MEA HSE Targets.
• Ø Ensure all legal appointments are made and training is scheduled.
• Ø Provide a service to all parts of the business who require HSE Support.
• Ø Manage the Incident Investigations Process to ensure timely report out.
• Ø Ensure that HSE issues are considered in all Business Strategies.
• Ø Coordinate the Company’s HSE Network.
• Ø Develop and maintain a HSE Legal Register for the company and communicate any major changes.
• Ø Support or attend industry and client meetings as required.
• Ø Active use of VBS to carry out continuous improvement priorities.
• Ø HR Line Management (People skills and development).
• Ø Implementation and sustainment of a QMS.
• Ø Compliance with annual Quality Management System (QMS) Audits.
• Ø Sustain and manage the integrity of the QMS.
• Ø Associated Cost and Budget Management.
• Ø Implementation and Sustainment of Technical and Quality Standard Work.
• Ø Adherence to internal SLAs.
• Ø Provision of 1st and 2nd line Technical Operations Support to dedicated structures and customers.
• Ø Stop Work Authority.
• Ø Issue non-compliance.
• Ø Sign off contractor approvals.
• Ø Technical Corrective Measures.
• Ø Investigations on Contractors and Technicians.
• Ø Mandated Cost Management.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

• Must have a University Degree or Equivalent.
• A Postgraduate Diploma e.g. MBA or Equivalent Masters in a related Discipline.

KEY EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

• Must have 8 – 10 years’ Experience in Safety, Health & Environment and Quality Management, preferable in heavy duty environments, the highly compliance regulated industries.
• Oil & Mining Industry Knowledge preferred.
• Must have 3 – 5 years Management Experience.
• In depth knowledge of the OHS ACT and Safety Act.
• In depth knowledge of MHS ACT.
• Knowledge of regulations in the Mining/Oil/Forecourt/Fleet Industries.
• Knowledgeable and experienced in risk assessments and audits processes
• Quality Management Systems.
• Technical Support.
• Process Management.
• Audit Methodology.

KEY SKILLS:

• Ø Experience in implementation and maintenance of the ISO standards.
• Ø Proficient in use of MS Office.
• Ø Strong communication skills – must give training.
• Ø Good organizational skills.
• Ø Strong planning and time management skills.
• Ø Must be Registered with SACMP.
