HR Administrator

SUMMARY:
An HR administrator in the mining sector is responsible for comprehensive administrative support for the HR department, including managing employee records, supporting recruitment and onboarding, ensuring compliance with labor laws and mine-specific regulations, and assisting with payroll and benefits. This role is crucial for maintaining smooth workforce operations, supporting employee relations, and handling the unique HR challenges of the mining environment.

Key responsibilities:
Record keeping and administration: Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, files, and databases, ensuring all personal particulars and required documents (e.g., medicals, certificates) are complete and securely stored.
Recruitment and onboarding: Assist with the full recruitment cycle, including posting jobs, scheduling interviews, conducting background checks, and processing new hires through onboarding and termination processes.
Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant labor laws, regulations, and company policies, and conduct audits to ensure compliance with HR processes.
Employee support and relations: Act as a first point of contact for employee inquiries regarding benefits, policies, and procedures. Support managers in addressing employee relations issues.
Payroll and benefits: Assist with payroll administration, ensuring accurate and timely processing of salaries, and handle queries related to medical aid and provident funds.
Training and development: Coordinate and administer training sessions and programs to enhance employee skills. Assist in gathering information for training plans and other skills development initiatives.
Reporting: Collect, compile, and prepare various HR-related reports, including daily, weekly, and monthly reports, and assist with gathering data for management reports.
Other duties: Perform administrative duties such as scheduling, managing leave, and providing support for contractor administration.

Qualifications and skills:
Education: A National Diploma or Certificate in Human Resources

Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years of HR administration experience, preferably within a mining environment, is often necessary.

Skills:
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Proficiency in HR systems and databases.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
Knowledge of South African labor laws and regulations.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a challenging environment.
