SUMMARY:
Large Pinetown based manufacturer requires a senior Human Resources Manager, who will lead the full HR function across two manufacturing facilities, ensuring the organisation has the right talent to achieve its objectives. Reporting to the CEO, the role oversees HR strategy and operations for approximately 1,000 employees in a unionised manufacturing environment.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities

Strategic HR Leadership

Develop and execute the national HR strategy aligned to business goals.
Implement HR policies and best practices promoting equity and organisational effectiveness.
Drive Employment Equity and Skills Development initiatives.

Industrial Relations & Compliance

Lead IR activities across three unions, including negotiations and dispute resolution (CCMA, arbitration)
Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation.
Maintain strong union relationships and represent the company in bargaining forums

Talent & Workforce Management

Oversee recruitment, retention, and workforce planning.
Manage Temporary Employment Service providers.
Drive employee engagement and organisational culture initiatives.

HR Operations

Oversee HR systems and key functions: payroll, benefits, performance management, training, employee relations, and wellness.
Ensure accurate HRIS reporting and data integrity.

Financial & Reporting

Manage HR and manpower budgets through forecasting and planning.
Analyse HR metrics, identify trends, and provide strategic insights.

Leadership

Provide HR guidance on discipline and employee matters.
Lead and develop the HR team (4 direct reports) and oversee clinic staff.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in HR, Industrial Relations, or related field.
8–10 years’ experience in a senior HR role within a manufacturing, unionised environment.
Experience managing large workforces (~1,000 employees).
Strong IR, negotiation, and dispute resolution expertise.
Proficiency in HRIS, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong knowledge of HR practices and South African labour laws.
Leadership, planning, and organisational skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
Proficient in MS Office and HR systems.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
