Handyman
POSITION INFO:
Job Purpose:
The Handyman is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance, repair, building, plumbing, roofing and installation tasks to ensure the proper upkeep, safety, and functionality of the organization’s buildings, equipment, and grounds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out general repair and maintenance work, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting tasks.
- Inspect and identify maintenance issues throughout the property.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure building systems operate efficiently.
- Assemble, install, or repair furniture equipment as required.
- Replace light bulbs, switches, locks, door handles, and other fixtures.
- Ensure all assigned maintenance and repair work is completed on time and in compliance with safety standards.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests or emergency repairs.
- Coordinate with external contractors when specialized repairs are required.
- Keep records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Own tools
- Own transport to travel to site (Wyebank shopping Centre).
- Fluent in IsiZulu
- Applicants should be of sober habits, honest, and dependable, with a commitment to always maintaining professional conduct.
- Proven experience as a handyman, maintenance worker, or in a similar role.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, building walls, roofing, tilling, installation of ceiling and carpentry systems.
- Ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment safely.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good physical condition and the ability to lift heavy objects.
- Excellent time management and communication skills.
Working Conditions:
- Monday to Friday 07h00 – 17h00 and alternate Saturday & Sunday 07h00 – 17h00.
- Work may involve exposure to dust, noise, and outdoor conditions.
