Hangar Assistant

SUMMARY:
As the hangar assistant, your role will be to assist the Engineering department in all areas of maintenance pertaining to the following but not limited to: company aircraft; hangar/facility, all equipment and company vehicles.

POSITION INFO:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assist Engineers with maintenance of the company`s aircraft and ensuring that the recommended manufacturers maintenance procedures and practises are adhered to.  
- Adhering to all company policies, procedures and manuals. 
- Maintenance of all ground support equipment and when outsourced maintenance is required, liaise with senior personnel to obtain quotes and oversee required maintenance.  
- Keep to Cleanliness Standards as per the Civil Aviation Regulations, 2011, as amended.         
- Aircraft cleaning.   
- Assist engineers with aircraft arrivals and departures. 
- Offload and load arriving and departing aircraft baggage bays.  
- Drive passenger vehicles from the aircraft parking bay to the vehicle parking bay. 
- Dealing with passengers at a minimal level.  
- Assisting all maintenance personnel, as requested.

 ENVIRONMENT: 

- Persons will be required to work outside the facility from time to time. 
- Persons will be required to work over weekends and public holidays on short-notice, dependent on operational requirements. 
- Required to be on standby due to operational requirements. 
- Lift heavy goods, as and when required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Knowledge / Qualification 
- Minimum Tertiary Qualification – Grade 12 
- Valid driver’s license (Code 08) 
- Reliable transport  
- Previous Aviation experience advantages  
- Prior Technical experience in any field will be considered 
- Knowledge of Microsoft office (MS-Excel, MS-Word, Outlook).

Additional training 
- Be prepared to be evaluated and attend performance reviews as required by aviation legislation. 
- Attend skill and refresher training/courses as and when required. 
- Will be required to do working on heights training and be able to work at heights if required.
