Head Barman (CONTRACT) - Camps Bay

Our Luxury Hotel in Camps Bay is seeking a Head Barman to join our bespoke team. If you see yourself working in one of Cape Town's most luxurious locations then this position is for you.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12 with hospitality experience / hospitality qualification
• Must speak, read, write, and understand English at a professional level
• Computer literate (Windows Office – Excel, Word and Outlook)
• Working knowledge of Opera and Micros
• Familiar with all duties and procedures in Restaurant and Bar

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Complete the opening checklist and ensure that the Bar is prepared for guests
• Maintain effective stock control and record good needed
• Report any necessary information to Supervisors/Managers or colleagues, via telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person
• Stock bar with beers, wine, liquor, and related supplies
• Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages
• Prepare hot and cold beverages
• Clean and polish glasses and utensils
• Assist waitrons where necessary
• Ability to work with money and make calculations
• Take food and/or beverage orders from guests
• Clear and reset tables
• Present quests with food and/or wine menu and provide information regarding the preparation and presentation of items on the menu
• Be available to assist in the smooth running of the restaurant
• Serve snacks or food items to customers seated at the bar
• Plan, organise and control operations of the bar and/or restaurant
• Take payment from guests in the form of credit cards, cash or room charges
• Record guests food and/or beverage orders
• Upsell Accommodation and Tourism services
• Inform guests of daily specials
• Establish and maintain a good relationship with guests
• Offer to call a cab or reliable means of transportation for intoxicated guests
• Monitor and observe quests dining experience. Ensure all guests are satisfied with the food and service
• Respond promptly and courteously to any requests or complaints
• Build supplier relationships 
• Ensure wastage is kept to a minimal
• Ensure that the bar and restaurant area is clean, tidy and presentable at all times
• Able to make recommendations upon requests
