A luxurious lodge in Hoedspruit is on the lookout for an exceptional Head Butler to lead its service team and elevate the guest experience to world-class standards.
POSITION INFO:
The Head Butler will play a pivotal role in delivering a world-class guest experience through exceptional food and beverage service. Working closely with the butler team, this position ensures that every guest interaction is warm, personalised, and seamless. The role requires a hands-on leader who can manage and mentor a team, uphold service excellence, and collaborate with the kitchen and management to curate memorable dining experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the daily operations of the butler team to ensure consistent, high-level service delivery.
- Provide full-service functionality to guests, ensuring your presence at all meal times until guests have finished.
- Uphold the overall guest service experience at the lodge, maintaining high standards in every interaction.
- Conduct daily service briefings and provide ongoing training and mentorship to the butler team.
- Maintain accurate records and accountability for service-related stock, including cutlery, crockery, glassware, and consumables.
- Engage with guests regularly to understand their preferences, dietary needs, and special requests, using this information to personalise their stay.
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen to ensure smooth meal service, presentation, and guest satisfaction.
- Deliver prompt and thoughtful feedback to management on any guest concerns or service challenges.
- Represent the lodge with professionalism, displaying exceptional grooming, communication skills, and a passion for hospitality.
Candidate Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Head Butler in a 4 or 5-star establishment (essential).
- Proven experience in high-end, luxury hospitality with an understanding of 5-star service standards.
- Strong food, beverage, wine, and cocktail knowledge; barista or sommelier experience advantageous.
- Excellent understanding of dietary requirements and allergy considerations.
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; fluent in English (additional languages beneficial).
- Immaculate personal presentation and a passion for guest interaction and service.
