JOB SUMMARY:

One of South Africa's Banking Giants is looking for a Head of Non-Salary Lending to join their team.


JOB DESCRIPTION:

Purpose Statement:
To set, enhance and drive the Retail Credit Management Non-Salary lending service offering for Retail Banking through:
  • Providing strategic direction and operational insight within Retail Credit Management for Non-Salary lending, underpinning and enabling the delivery of the Retail Banking strategy.
  • Leading and overseeing the Non-Salary Lending department, and taking accountability for optimising departmental performance (including strategic business planning and implementation of standards, credit risk policies, principles and processes).
  • Driving (in collaboration with Delivery Head) the automating of non-salary lending processes.
Key Tasks & Accountabilities:
Business Planning and Strategy
  • Work with the Divisional Executive: Credit Management Retail and provide subject matter input towards the development of the Retail Credit Management strategy.
  • Apply credit expertise and an innovative approach to devise and develop a strategy for the growth of Non-Salary lending
  • Devise the Non-Salary Lending business plan and operating model, ensuring alignment with the strategic goals of Retail Credit and oversee its implementation.
  • Establish metrics and processes in Non-Salary Lending which provide clear and comprehensive performance measurements.
  • Develop the non-salary lending budget and get it approved. Work with the Delivery Head to manage expenses and vendor costs.
  • Identify, conceptualise, define and help bring to market new Non-Salary lending Credit business opportunities
  • Work with the Divisional Executive: Credit Management Retail to plan Non-Salary Lending opportunities and initiatives that will service and achieve the strategic and business objectives of Retail Credit.
Non-Salary Lending Projects and Product Delivery
  • Bring together credit and business expertise to identify opportunities to develop and grow the secured and unsecured credit product portfolio. Guide and oversee the quantification of the value-add associated with opportunities to inform the compilation, and delivery of business cases.
  • Define the roadmap and execution strategy for the future (types of products, business models, partnerships, etc.) and guide and decide on what’s best, based on the Company strengths.
  • Take the overall lead to develop and enhance Non-Salary lending products, partnering with Credit and other stakeholder departments for operationalising the delivery.
  • Define, motivate and track the business cases and targets of Non-Salary lending products.
  • Accountable for the integration, oversight and delivery of Non-Salary Lending initiatives and projects to achieve business plans and goals.
  • Provide guidance and direction to the Managers (across the business), ensuring the effective exploration of credit related business opportunities in the respective product groups.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Commerce or Statistics or a relevant post-graduate qualification
Knowledge & Experience:
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of retail credit life cycle operations, retail credit profit modelling and retail credit regulations
  • Commercial, business and financial principles and practices
  • People Management
  • Project Management
  • Governance and risk management principles
  • Business processes, policies and systems
  • Application of relevant credit and risk legislation in an organisation (NCA, CPA, Companies Act, Insolvency Act, etc.)
  • Impact of regulatory bodies (BASA, SARB, SACCRA, NCR, and FIC) on the functioning of an organisation
Minimum Experience:
  • Minimum 10 years management experience in a senior role or as a specialist in a credit solutioning environment
  • 2 years experience in a retail non-salary lending environment
  • Experience of successfully leading, planning and managing credit initiatives across a complex organisatio
Ideal Experience:
  • 10+ years management experience in a senior role or as a specialist in a credit solutioning environment
  • 2+ years’ experience in a retail non-salary lending environment
  • Experience of successfully leading, planning and managing credit initiatives across a complex organisation
  • Experience overseeing a credit application automation project including process flows and data science techniques
