Location: South Africa

This forward thinking provider of payment technology solutions, delivering tailored, scalable systems that power financial inclusion and digital transformation across the African continent. From mobile wallets to digital banking infrastructure, they partner with banks, fintechs, MNOs, and government institutions to enable meaningful change where it matters most.

The Role:
We are seeking an experienced and driven individual to lead the sales and business development function. A key focus of this role will be to drive and close strategic deals, particularly those that are complex or have proven challenging for the broader team. As the Head of Business Development, you will play a critical role in expanding the commercial footprint across key African markets. You will oversee the regional Sales and Business Development Managers in 5 African countries, and be responsible for driving revenue growth through high-impact partnerships and solution-focused sales.

🌐 Key Focus Areas:

• Lead, coach, and coordinate a team of Business Development Managers across multiple African countries
• Develop and implement a pan-African growth strategy aligned with the company’s market vision and product roadmap
• Cultivate strong client relationships across banking, fintech, and telcom sectors
• Identify new business opportunities and strategic partnerships to expand the company’s footprint and payment solutions partnerships
• Represent the organisation in senior-level discussions with clients and partners
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Product, Technology, and Executive teams
• Monitor market trends and provide strategic commercial insights

• 8+ years’ experience in business development, sales leadership, or strategic partnerships in the fintech, payments, banking, or tech sectors
• Demonstrated success in leading multi-country commercial teams in Africa
• In-depth understanding of payment technology and digital financial services in emerging markets
• Strong communication, negotiation, business acumen and stakeholder engagement skills
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to navigate fast-paced, evolving environments
• Willingness to travel within the region as required
