SUMMARY:
Our client based in Fourways is looking for a Head of Business Intelligence to ensure managers of the company’s African businesses have the information they need to make decisions that maximize the Company’s revenue and Organic Tenant Billings Growth.

Summary:
The Head of Business Intelligence – Africa (“HBIA”) is responsible to ensure managers of the company’s African businesses (the “Company”) have the information they need to make decisions that maximize the Company’s revenue, EBITDA, ROIC, and Organic Tenant Billings Growth (the “Objective”). The HBIA will be responsible to gather, organize, analyse, and interpret the Company’s existing data, as well as to secure, organize, analyse, and interpret certain data that is not yet in the Company’s possession but that supports the Objective. The HBIA should help define the strategy, use case, and implementation of data analytics to achieve the Objective.
Essential Duties:
- Market Intelligence: Provide periodic intelligence to decision-makers across Africa about the markets in which the Company operates as well as about its customers and competitors.
- Market Trends: Help Senior Management understand technology and market trends that may impact the Company’s business in the future and take a point of view about how the Company should address these trends.
- Know Your Customer: Ensure Senior Management have greater visibility of our customers’ activity and spend with the Company, with competitors, and alternatives such as self-build or cooperation with other network operators. Track trends over time, provide data-based explanations for our customers’ behaviour, and give suggestions for how the Company can secure more new business.
- Pricing Strategy: Help the Company make more optimal, real-time decisions related to pricing its products and services. It is envisaged that this will involve, but not be limited to, better understanding of our customers’ total cost of ownership, willingness to pay, competitors’ offerings, and market/wallet share. Take a point of view on how the Company can best price its products and services in each market and share with Senior Management.
- Know Your Tower: Ensure the Company knows which parties are using which assets, whether through collocation, RAN sharing, fibre, power, or otherwise. Work with Operations and IT to help the Company track our customers’ usage of the Company’s assets, as well as what portion of the Company’s assets are available for use by future customers.
- Lease Up: Improve the Company’s ability to project the potential for new business on existing assets as well as other assets that the Company is considering acquiring or building.
- Revenue Projections: Help the Company understand the revenue that our customers generate at existing assets owned by the company, as well as to estimate the revenue being produced or to be produced at certain other assets. Support the annual and long-term budgeting processes.
- Data Management: Working with IT and other business intelligence professionals at the Company, procure and manage the resources and tools necessary to achieve the Objective, ensuring they are well organized and user-friendly for non-technical users.
- Data Analytics: Help define the strategy, use case, and implementation of data analytics to achieve the Objective.
- Support other projects that support the Objective as determined by the VP, Head of Commercial – Africa.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- As needed in the future, partner with Human Resources team and Senior Management to recruit, develop and retain staff. This includes on-boarding and orientation for new hires, if needed.
- Define and communicate annual goals.
Qualifications:
- Exceptional understanding of statistics and data analytics, capable of appreciating what data should be gathered, tracked and analysed to provide the insights desired by Senior Management Exceptional ability to analyse data and then translate insights from data to non-technical users
- Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational skills, capable of taking disaggregated information across systems and organizing it as needed to support the Objective
- Strong business acumen; demonstrated success as a business partner, with direct contribution to achievement of organizational goals and objectives
- Strong familiarity with the telecommunications industry and wireless networks
- Familiarity with the telecommunications infrastructure industry in Africa
- Knowledge of telecommunications RF engineering systems is a plus
- Ability to work across business areas and multiple demands
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills; persuasive and effective communicator, capable of translating technical information to non-tech users
- Strong leadership skills and executive presence
- Ability to communicate in English
Education And Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, finance, analytics, business, or related field
- Master’s degree in data analytics or other related fields
- 10+ years’ experience
- 5+ years’ experience in analytics, preferably in the telecommunications or real estate industries
- 5+ years’ experience in network planning
