The Head of Data and Digital plays a critical role in shaping the strategic direction of the organisation by developing and executing a comprehensive digital and data strategy aligned to overall business objectives. This leader drives the identification, evaluation, and implementation of emerging technologies, digital solutions, and data-driven capabilities that enhance operational efficiency, support growth, and enable innovation across the business.
The role is responsible for overseeing digital transformation, data management, analytics, and artificial intelligence capabilities, ensuring that technology investments deliver measurable business value. By aligning digital and data strategies with organisational priorities, the Head of Data and Digital enhances enterprise-wide performance, strengthens market competitiveness, and supports sustainable growth.
This position is instrumental in advancing the organisation’s strategic objectives through digitisation initiatives, optimisation of business systems, and the development of future-ready technology capabilities that enable long-term success.
POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities Strategy & Leadership Develop and execute the organisation's Digital, Data, Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and long-term growth plans. Provide strategic leadership for digital transformation initiatives and data-driven innovation across the enterprise. Partner with executive leadership and key stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable digital, AI, and analytics solutions. Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, agility, and secure technology adoption throughout the organisation. Drive the integration of emerging technologies to enhance operational efficiency, decision-making, and customer value. Digital, Data & AI Portfolio Management Define and oversee the enterprise Digital, Data, Analytics, and AI portfolio to ensure effective delivery of business value. Establish governance frameworks that promote consistency, scalability, and sustainability across technology initiatives. Monitor portfolio performance and alignment with strategic priorities across multiple business functions and regions. Identify and address architectural, operational, and technology-related risks and deviations. Technology Innovation & Transformation Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of emerging technologies, digital platforms, and advanced analytics capabilities. Continuously assess global technology trends and identify opportunities to drive competitive advantage and innovation. Champion the adoption of data-driven decision-making and AI-enabled solutions throughout the organisation. Measure and optimise the uptake, effectiveness, and business impact of new digital capabilities. Performance & Value Realisation Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the success and value of digital, AI, and analytics initiatives. Track return on investment (ROI), business benefits realisation, and overall portfolio performance. Oversee the timely delivery of strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives and expected outcomes. Provide executive-level reporting and insights on programme progress, performance metrics, and value delivered. Risk, Security & Compliance Ensure all digital, AI, and data solutions comply with relevant regulatory, legal, and cybersecurity requirements. Collaborate with information security and risk functions to proactively identify, mitigate, and manage technology-related risks. Drive best practices in data governance, privacy, protection, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning. Promote secure-by-design principles across all digital transformation initiatives. Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership Act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, business units, and technology teams. Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive alignment and successful execution of strategic initiatives. Communicate the value, impact, and benefits of digital, data, analytics, and AI capabilities across the organisation. Facilitate collaboration between business and technology teams to ensure successful delivery of solutions. People Leadership & Capability Development Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams of digital, data, analytics, and technology professionals. Drive a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Support professional development through coaching, training, certification programmes, and knowledge-sharing initiatives. Monitor and improve employee engagement, productivity, capability growth, and overall team performance. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline. A postgraduate qualification, Master's degree, or MBA will be advantageous. Minimum of 10 years' experience in technology, digital transformation, data analytics, or related leadership roles. At least 5 years of experience leading Digital, Data, Analytics, or AI functions at a senior management or executive level. Proven experience in driving enterprise-wide digital transformation programmes and managing large-scale technology portfolios. Strong exposure to enterprise resource planning (ERP), business intelligence, and analytics platforms. Experience within manufacturing, industrial, mining, chemicals, or other complex operational environments will be advantageous. Technical Skills & Knowledge Strong understanding of digital transformation, enterprise data management, analytics, and artificial intelligence frameworks. Experience with cloud-based data and analytics platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, or Snowflake. Advanced knowledge of business intelligence and data visualisation tools, including Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or similar solutions. Expertise in data governance, data architecture, data modelling, and ETL processes. Strong understanding of cybersecurity, data privacy, regulatory compliance, and risk management principles. Proficiency in SQL and data analysis methodologies. Knowledge of machine learning, predictive analytics, and AI-driven business solutions will be advantageous.
