The Role:

The primary responsibility of the role of is to enable the growth of the public sector accounts (current and new), lead and manage government relations, stakeholder relationships and communication activities within the Public Sector environment. This engagement role is core to supporting strategic company business priorities, amplifying the companies market presence within the public sector.  The role is also responsible for strategic internal and external communication activities within the Public Sector environment aimed at growing the companyâ??s profile and impact within the SA market environment. 

Essential Function:

  • Building relationships with key external and internal stakeholders to achieve the companies Public Sector sales objectives.
  • Driving the allocated sales and delivery teams in the achievement of sales targets, through driving sales and engagement initiatives within existing Public Sector clients and potential clients.
  • Manage the negotiation process with relevant Public Sector clients/agencies to ensure a successful bid process.
  • Proactively resolve all unresolved related queries and concerns through the customer complaints handling process and ensure that all relevant company stakeholders are engaged in the process of resolution.
  • Management of a team of 15 sales executives to support them in ensuring that they achieve their allocated target numbers. Is this correct â?? that is management of 15 sales people or is it rather working with a team of 15 sales people? Also, is 15 the correct number?
  • Direct involvement with customers to find new opportunities, help enhance existing opportunities, solving issues related to pre and post sales activities.
  • Maintain executive levels of engagement and communication with strategic Public Sector partners and stakeholders from a partnership and growth perspective.
  • Responsible for joint business planning with strategic sales and solutioning teams.
  • Account planning with sales team in growth planning for key accounts.
  • Managing forecasts and pipelines for the business and presenting to management.
  • Collaboration with fellow sales heads in other LOBâ??s to discuss joint account engagement with clients.
  • Mentoring and supporting the sales team in all activities related to the growth of the business within the Public Sector environment.
  • Managing operational business issues from time to time.
  • Managing and executing on joint marketing activities with the strategic Public Sector stakeholders.
  • Working with the Bid Harvesting team to substantively qualify bid opportunities.  
Skills and Experience:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Post graduate degree or diploma.

Experience Required:

  • Function related experience: 7 - 10 years experience leading and driving sales teams within the Public Sector environment.
  • Leading teams: 5 - 7 years leading teams within the sales and delivery environment.
  • Successful sales career in over-achievement of set targets.
  • Ability to lead teams by inclusion.
  • Driven individual with a successful track record.
  • Good understanding of the technologies deployed within the relevant business area.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Increased growth and relevance of Public Sector Accounts.
  • Increased sales volume in Public Sector to increase market share.
  • Strategic intent.
  • Driven to achieve.
