The Head of Faculty will promote overall academic integrity and to ensure compliance with prescribed legislation with regards to the programmes offered by the college as an accredited Institution of Higher Learning and provide academic leadership for the education faculty.
 
Educational Requirements for the Head of faculty: Education:

Professional Masters Degree in Education specialising in one of the following areas: Foundation Phase or Intermediate Phase or Senior Phase or Further Education and Training Phase.

The candidate should have at least 5 years’ experience in Higher Education as a lecturer.

Required knowledge and skills for the position entail: Research capabilities, knowledge and experience in the following: a) delivering programmes through a distance mode of delivery, b) assessment strategies and processes relevant for a distance mode of delivery, c) online learning platforms and Learner Management Systems, d) curriculum development, e) module development, f) programme review, g) marking and moderating.


Duties and Responsibilities of Head of Faculty: Education:
Liaison with external institutions when requested to do so.
Ensure implementation, maintenance and evaluation of prescribed systems, policies and
procedures.
Arrange and chair prescribed Advisory Committee meetings.
Assist the Dean with the finalisation of programmes on the HEQC (CHE).
Marking of assignments and exam papers.
Moderating of assignments and exam scripts.
Ensure implementation and compliance with HEQC (CHE) legislation.
Consultation with external industry stakeholders to promote programmes.
Coordinate programme development and review.
Implement and manage relevant Faculty budget.
Coordinate staff development and training.
Develop and maintain student support.
Assist the Dean as and when required.
Arrange meetings / Attend meetings and workshops.

Management of staff.
Self-Development (OSD Training, Internal Training, External Training).
Ad-hoc duties as and when required
