Head of Financial Control

A bank is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Financial Control and Procurement to manage the financial control function within the bank and its subsidiaries.

Duties:

• Provide strategic advice on financial control best practices and ensure operational excellence across all related functions.
• Foster strong relationships with internal departments, external parties, and the Bank’s Executive Committee.
• Lead and oversee financial operations, statutory reporting, tax, VAT, debtors, creditors, and other key financial processes.
• Manage the corporate office finance business partnering function and the year-end audit process.
• Drive cost-saving initiatives and other corporate finance-related matters in line with the Bank's strategic goals.
• Work closely with the CFO on various projects and financial matters.
• Identify and implement opportunities for innovation and automation to improve financial processes.
• Maintain a strong financial control environment with effective risk management processes and controls.
• Address internal and external audit matters promptly and work towards achieving low-risk findings.

• Matric (Grade 12)
• BCom Accounting
• BCom Honours / CTA
• CA(SA)

• Completed SAICA Articles
• At least 5 years of experience in a similar capacity managing a financial control function
• Ideally, 5–8 years in the banking or finance industry, with experience in an auditing firm preferred
• Management experience is a MUST!!

• Deep understanding of Financial Control, statutory reporting, technical accounting, and taxation within a banking environment
• Expert knowledge of tax legislation, accounting principles, SA governing bodies, and regulatory reporting structures
• Strong internal policies and procedures knowledge
• Financial acumen and integrity
• Ability to manage under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong management and leadership capabilities
