Head of Logistics

SUMMARY:
An established Food Processing Company requires the above to manage the logistics function of the Company by applying the principles of planning, organising, leading and controlling activities and people through the implementation of relevant best practices that are aimed at achieving the Company's logistical objectives.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum requirements for the role:

• A tertiary qualification in Logistics or Supply Chain Management or equivalent is essential.
• Previous Pack House or Operations experience will be advantageous.
• Previous management experience in a supply chain environment.
• Excellent communication and people management skills.
• Ability to work accurately and within time pressures.
• Problem solving and change facilitation.
• Strategic thinking ability.
• Must be computer literate with Excel skills.
• Sound knowledge of HR practices.
• Valid driver’s license with own vehicle.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Overall accountability for the site’s logistics function, which includes inbound and outbound logistics for both packhouses.
• Establish integration between fruit receiving, fruit quality, planning as well as pack program priorities determined by the Marketing Department.
• Assist with order planning and scheduling available fruit vs line capabilities vs marketing requirements. 
• Ensure service delivery to freight forwarding is of the highest standard.
• Oversee Key Supplier management, including Transporters.
• Accountable for the stock control function relating to packing material and chemicals.
• Compile the annual budget and responsible for the Department’s financial performance.
• Deliver on all key performance areas.
• Establish a lean dynamic people structure to achieve site and Company goals.
• Ensure adherence to health and safety procedures, BRC and HACCP standards and take corrective actions on any deviations.

Salary package, including benefits, is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
