Head of Safety

SUMMARY:
Our prestigious client in the Mining Industry has an opportunity available for a Head of Safety in the Burgersfort area.

POSITION INFO:
Requirements:

• A Degree or Diploma specialising in Safety, Engineering, Process or Mining is essential
• In-depth understanding of the safety legislation e.g. Mine Health and Safety Act and COID Act
• A valid blasting certificate would be an advantageous
• Minimum of 10 years mining related working experience, preferably in a conventional narrow reef mining environment
• Minimum of 5 year’s working experience as a Safety Manager is essential
• Computer literacy in MS office applications, ISOMETRIX and SAP is essential
• A thorough knowledge of mining, engineering safety principles and processes is also essential
• Good knowledge of Risk Management Framework, SHE policies and Codes of Practice will be required
• Knowledge of and exposure to the ISO14001 and OHSAS18001/45000 systems will be a definite advantage
• Sound knowledge of business management systems
• Valid Medical Certificate or medically fit to obtain such a certificate is essential

• Leading, ensuring compliance of and co-ordinating the HSE compliance and initiatives of contractors
• Facilitating and managing Marula HSE audits and recommending appropriate actions plans to eliminate incidents
• Managing and analysing HSE data, information and statistics
• Facilitating, analysing and co-ordinating Root Cause Analysis of all serious incidents/occurrences and ensure the implementation of remedial actions to prevent future incidents/occurrences
• Determining Risk exposure and formulate management action plans to mitigate these risks
• Compiling and managing Health, Safety and Environmental costs and budgets
• Involvement in the development of group HSE standards and procedures
