SUMMARY:
We are currently looking for a Health & Safety Officer for our client in the petrochemical and oil & gas sector. Must have experience in ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines. The ideal candidate will be responsible for promoting a safe working environment by implementing and maintaining health and safety standards.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12 (Matric).
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Health & Safety role, specifically within the petrochemical, oil & gas, or related industries.
Relevant Health & Safety Qualification (e.g., SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, or equivalent).
Sound knowledge of the OHS Act and relevant industry regulations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent problem-solving and risk assessment abilities.
Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
Advantages:

- Incident investigation or auditing certification.
- First Aid and Fire Fighting Certificates.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation.
Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments.
Monitor and report on incidents, accidents, and near misses.
Develop, implement, and update health and safety policies and procedures.
Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to staff and contractors.
Investigate workplace accidents and incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective measures.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, and training.
Prepare reports and documentation required for audits and client compliance.
Liaise with management and stakeholders to ensure alignment on safety standards.
