A well-established company based in Benoni is seeking an experienced Horizontal Boring Mill Turner (Conventional) to join a busy engineering and manufacturing environment.
POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements Proven experience as a Horizontal Boring Mill Turner . Minimum 10 years' experience in boring mill operations within an engineering or manufacturing environment. Trade Test \/ Qualified Turner \/ Machinist (advantageous). Grade 12 \/ Matric or equivalent technical qualification . Strong experience in precision machining and working to close tolerances. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings accurately. Experience with manual and\/or CNC boring mill operations (advantageous). Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments . Safety-conscious, reliable and quality-driven. Willingness to work overtime or shifts when required. Own transport advantageous. Key Duties and Responsibilities Set up and operate horizontal boring mill machines for precision machining work. Read and interpret engineering drawings, job cards, specifications and tolerances. Machine components accurately using correct tools, speeds, feeds and machining methods. Perform boring, drilling, milling, facing, threading and related machining operations. Set up workpieces using dial indicators, clamps, fixtures, lifting equipment, and other measuring tools. Measure completed work using verniers, micrometres, depth gauges, bore gauges and other precision instruments. Conduct first-off inspections and ongoing quality checks to ensure compliance with specifications. Maintain machine accuracy and report any defects or deviations. Assist with basic machine maintenance when required. Complete job cards, production records, and inspection documentation accurately. Follow all health, safety, housekeeping, and company procedures. Work independently and meet production deadlines without compromising quality. Required Skills and Competencies Horizontal boring mill setup and operation.
