Hotel Maintenance Foreman (Assistant Maintenance Manager)

We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Hotel Maintenance Foreman also known as an Assistant Hotel Maintenance Manager with proven experience in large-scale hotel, luxury property, or hospital environments to lead and coordinate the hotel’s maintenance team. Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, you will ensure that all maintenance operations are executed efficiently, safely, and in line with structured hotel operational standards.

This role is suited to a technically strong supervisor who understands multi-disciplinary building systems within an operational hospitality environment. Experience within hotels or large commercial properties is essential for this role.

Minimum Requirements

• Trade qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, or Plumbing (Red Seal preferred)
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in commercial building maintenance or hotel maintenance
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or foreman role
• Experience within a hotel, luxury property, hospital, or large commercial facility environment
• Strong technical knowledge across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical systems
• Experience using CMMS systems (OMNI, INFOR, HotSOS or similar)
• Strong leadership capability in delegation, scheduling, and team coordination
• Valid South African ID
• CV must be fully updated prior to submission

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Supervision

• Assign daily maintenance tasks and conduct team briefings
• Monitor technician performance and ensure adherence to hotel operational standards
• Manage attendance, conduct, and performance in line with company policy
• Mentor junior staff and support ongoing skills development

Technical Oversight & Maintenance Control

• Guide technicians in diagnosing and resolving electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical issues
• Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to hotel quality standards
• Oversee preventive maintenance schedules and manage reactive maintenance tasks
• Ensure timely follow-up and job closure within the CMMS system

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Enforce health and safety regulations and hotel compliance standards
• Conduct risk assessments and manage incident reporting
• Maintain safe working practices with minimal disruption to guests

Inventory & Resource Management

• Oversee maintenance inventory, tools, equipment, and consumables
• Ensure accountability and readiness of resources at all times
• Coordinate procurement requirements with the Chief Engineer

Operational Coordination

• Liaise with Housekeeping, Front Office, and other departments to coordinate maintenance access
• Maintain professional conduct and discretion in guest areas
• Ensure accurate handover logs, daily reports, and compliance documentation
