About the position:

The role sits in our client''s Global Business Partner team, and is an opportunity to closely partner with their leaders to build strong relationships and develop a deep knowledge of the business and their people. The role will have a primary focus on South Africa but the team operates on a global basis, so offers the opportunity to develop knowledge and experience across all regions.

The Business Partner team is responsible for developing and offering direction, support and expertise on a wide range of topics, ranging from employee lifecycle processes, talent and performance, through to employee relations. The role will also include responsibility for employment legal work, as well as the people side of any local regulatory requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Close partnering with the business to provide expertise, innovation and best practice on day to day as well as strategic people matters
  • Working with managers to create and nurture high performing talent dense teams, through involvement in routine, informal and formal performance and talent processes and conversations
  • Advising on best practice and process in relation to employee relations matters, including any business changes, grievances, disciplinaries, sickness and leaver scenarios
  • Day to day management of employment legal work and regulatory matters that have a people focus
  • Developing globally consistent procedures and practices, in compliance with local legal and regulatory requirements
  • Managing international employee mobility, with a focus in moves to and from Africa
  • Developing and delivering relevant training, according to team and organisational needs

Qualifications, Technical Knowledge and Experience required:

  • Knowledge, expertise and experience of applicable employment law
  • Experience of working in a Human Capital team, or currently working for a law firm or consulting business where the focus is the provision of labour law expertise into a corporate environment
  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience in a professional services environment
  • Good drafting skills would be advantageous
