JOB SUMMARY:
Our client is seeking a HR Manager to develop and implement a sound human resources function in such a way that it contributes to the profitability of the company.  Responsible as a member of the management team for the maintenance, implementation, and execution of sound practices in all aspects of human management and in particular for administration, labour relations and welfare.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Main Objective

  • Manage and supervise the Personnel Department.
  • Manage industrial relations.
  • Manage the personnel administration function.
  • Manage the disciplinary function.
  • Authorise financial assistance.
  • Implement and monitor personnel policy and procedures.
  • Organisational Wellness Management.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Remuneration and Benefits processes;
  • SAP HR Processes;
  • Organisational/Management Development practices;
  • Wellness and Employee Assistance programmes;
Labour legislations
  • Degree in Behavioural Science or a B.Tech.
  • Registration with an HR/statutory body.
  • Eight years relevant experience in a supervisory capacity.

PERFORMANCE AREAS: TASKS/FUNCTIONS

  • Authorise appointment of all staff in the department.
  • Give guidelines and set deadlines for staff.
  • Handling of department complaints.
  • Conducts discipline as necessary with own staff.
  • Conducts performance appraisals and propose salary increments for people reporting to incumbent.
  • Advise and assist where necessary, direct subordinates with evaluation of their staff and salary proposals.
  • Manages department activities including development of team inputs.
  • Leads the development of the HR department’s goals, objectives and systems.
  • Provides leadership for HR strategic planning.
  • Establishes HR measures that support the accomplishment of the GABS strategic goals.
  • Management of HR information systems.
  • Conducts quality assurance audits.
  • Stock and inventory management.

  • Manage industrial relations policy and procedure

  • Conducts research, benchmark and amend IR policies and procedures.
  • Provide guidance in compliance of IR policies and procedures.
  • Union relationship management.
  • Advise and administer IR documentation.
  • Grievance and disciplinary handling.
  • Provides and advise guidance to employees.
  • Management official representative.
  • Assessment of organisational IR climate.
  • Management advisor.
  • Handling incapacity cases.
  • Monitors and advises managers and supervisors in progressive discipline.

  • Manage the personnel administration function

  • Conducts audits on personal employee records.
  • Salary and wage management through the Remuneration and Benefits Manager and the SAP payroll.
  • Bus passes management, in conjunction with the AFC Administrator.
  • Annual salary administration.
  • Ensure security and confidentiality of personnel records.
  • Comply with all legal and company procedures and policies relating to HR administration.

  • Research, benchmark and customize all HR policies.
  • Formulate policies.

  • Ensure that policies are placed on the Intranet.

  • Organisational Wellness Management

  • Custodian of EAP Policy.
  • Provide decision on Policy Implementation.
  • Stock and Budget Control.
  • Manage and supervise Occupational Nurse and clinic.

  • Organisational Human Capital

  • Monitor implementation of HR Policies.
  • Pension Fund liaison.
  • Annual Staff establishment budget.
  • Management of the Accelerated Development Programme candidates.
  • Management of Performance Management Systems.
  • Authorise all vacancies to be filled.
  • Quality assure appointments of senior management.
  • Conduct interviews at Extended Management level.
  • Approves “borderline” cases.
