Our client, a company at the forefront of waste management services, located in Roodekop, Johannesburg, is looking for a proactive, hands-on HR Officer to join their team and support both their operational and management staff. This role plays a vital part in maintaining workforce productivity, compliance, employee wellbeing, and the smooth running of all core HR functions. Key Responsibilities:
Workforce Planning & Productivity
- Create and manage staff rotation and workforce allocation plans
- Ensure leave and compensation compliance
- Maintain a pool of compliant relievers for ground roles
- Submit monthly productivity and workforce reports
Performance Management & Skills Development & Training
- Implement and manage a 360-degree appraisal system
- Drive performance coaching and feedback processes
- Develop and implement the Workplace Skills Plan
- Coordinate training, learnerships, internships, and an on-site learning centre
- Submit monthly training and BBBEE reports
Succession & Career Planning
- Develop and maintain 3-year succession plans
HR Advisory Support & Dispute Resolution & Labour Relations
- Advise line managers on disciplinary, policy, and union matters
- Provide senior management with strategic HR insights, legislation updates, and trend reports
- Lead conflict resolution processes, handle grievances, and represent the company at CCMA/Labour court
Employee Wellness & Benefits & Payroll Support & Compensation
- Administer employee benefits (Provident Fund, UIF, COIDA, Medical Aid)
- Resolve benefit-related queries
- Develop a fair, competitive compensation structure
- Consolidate and process data affecting payroll, especially regarding absenteeism and leave
- Provide accurate payroll data and trend analysis using biometric records
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Manage full recruitment lifecycle
- Lead a structured two-week induction for new employees
Statutory Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure full compliance with COIDA, UIF, SDL, EMP201, Bargaining Council
- Submit BEE scorecard and Employment Equity plans
Administration
- Maintain a secure and confidential electronic HR archive for all HR documents
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
- Matric/Grade 12 plus completed HR Diploma or NQF Level 6 equivalent
- Minimum 3 years in a generalist HR role
- SAGE Payroll
- Strong MS Office (Excel in particular), numeracy, and document management skills
- Clear criminal record
- Driver’s license (advantageous)
