SUMMARY:

Our client, one of the largest international oil and gas organisations, is seeking a Hydrogen / Blue Ammonia Facilities Planning Specialist to work within the Fuels & Chemicals Facilities Planning Division.

POSITION INFO:
The purpose of the role is to conduct feasibility studies on major addition and/or upgrades to existing facilities for the production of low-carbon fuels such as “blue” ammonia and hydrogen. Perform evaluations required to establish and support long term business strategies related to low-carbon energy. Prepare project scoping documents to define capital projects covering low-carbon fuels facilities. Provide technical consultation to Operating Organizations, Engineering and Project Management.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with strong preference for Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related degree from an accredited university. A Professional Engineer (P.E) or Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.) license or registration is desirable but is not essential.
  • A minimum of ten (15) years of professional experience, including at least ten (10) years as a technical or economic specialist in hydrogen production, ammonia production, decarbonization of industrial facilities, or closely related industries.
  • Previous experience in performing economic evaluations and feasibility studies and preparing requests for budgetary approvals.
  • Experience as a professional consultant in planning and execution of engineering studies.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to prepare budgetary reports and deliver technical presentations to Corporate Management.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist in the technical development and economic justification of Capital Programs and Budgets, including long range engineering studies.
  • Development of alternatives to proposed capital projects.
  • Conduct feasibility engineering studies with emphasis on technical and economic justification.
  • Prepare written project justifications for presentation to Corporate Management.
  • Prepare Design Basis Scoping Papers which are the basis for project proposals.
  • Perform system and economic evaluations of existing and potential new low-carbon fuel facilities.
  • Direct evaluation of low-carbon fuel facilities as performed by others.
  • Review project proposals with Project Management to insure economic design and conformance with Design Basis Scope Papers.
  • Prepare Expenditure Requests to obtain project funding.
  • Prepare and make presentations to Corporate Management on low-carbon fuel facility operations issues.
  • Provide full-time consultation to management and other organizations on low-carbon fuels operational issues.
  • Mentor and train others for development to Facility Planning Specialist positions.
