POSITION INFO:
Strategy Execution
Operationalise the ICT Strategy to ensure that the ICT systems of the organizations are safeguarded against any threats
Implement security improvements by assessing current situation; evaluating trends; anticipating current and future requirements
Develop, implement, maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for ICT support team.
Budgeting and Financial Management
Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions
Manage operational costs; conduct near- and long-term financial forecasts for expanded functionality/user base.
Operational Delivery
Safeguard information system assets by identifying and solving potential and actual security problems
Protect system by defining access privileges, control structures, and resources
Recognise problems by identifying abnormalities; reporting violations
Main Responsibilities:
Implement security improvements by assessing current situation; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements
Determine security violations and inefficiencies by conducting periodic audits
Upgrade system by implementing and maintaining security controls.
Keep users informed by preparing performance reports; communicating system status
Ensure quality service is maintained by following organization standards
Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing publications
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing security related results as needed.
Security Infrastructure
Proactively assess, monitor and maintain security infrastructure through daily monitoring and conducting preventative maintenance and updates
Ensure all equipment and software patched to the latest stable version
Perform network vulnerability scanning on a daily basis and make sure vulnerabilities are remediated
Ensure security threat events are logged and remediated
Investigate & implement security improvement or optimization proposal per quarter.
Risk Analysis and Research:
Keep abreast of ICT Security advancements and take advantage of new technologies to find new and innovative ways to solve business problems
Ensure adequate governance and mitigation of risk at business units
Manage problems and incidents so that service levels are delivered and faults trends are identified
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s Degree IT/Computer Science or Equivalent NQF Level 7 Qualification / Certified ICT Security Specialist
A minimum of 10 - 15 years’ experience in IT environment working on IT infrastructure and Security, inclusive of:
3 or more years configuring, installing, and troubleshooting information security appliances and software.
Registered with a Professional recognized information security body.
ICT Governance (King III, COBIT, etc.)
