IFRS 17 Technical Specialist (Finance)

SUMMARY:
We are looking for a strategic and experienced finance leader to oversee all financial operations for a long-term insurance business. This role ensures strong governance, compliance, and financial stewardship while driving profitability and supporting business growth.

POSITION INFO:

The Head of Finance will lead financial strategy, planning, and reporting for a life insurance business, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accounting standards. Key responsibilities include managing internal controls, audit readiness, and risk mitigation, while providing actionable insights to executives and the board. The role involves collaborating with actuarial teams on valuations, pricing, and reinsurance strategies, and driving initiatives to improve profitability and capital efficiency. Additionally, the Head of Finance will mentor and develop a skilled finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.

Skills & Experience:
Advanced knowledge of IFRS 17 and IFRS 9.
Familiarity with South African insurance regulations and FSCA requirements.
Expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
Strong understanding of insurance accounting and regulatory frameworks.
Experience with listed-company reporting and audit processes.

Qualification:
CA(SA) qualification is essential.
