IFRS Specialist

SUMMARY:
Our client, a well-known Accounting firm, is on the lookout for a driven and experienced IFRS Specialist, to join their team, based in Centurion, Pretoria.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum Requirements:

• Qualified Chartered Accountant.
• Proficient with MS Office.
• Strong technical knowledge.

• 3-5 years working experience as a IFRS Specialist.

Duties and responsibilities:

Communications:

• Monthly technical issue and technical directive research.
• Proposal reviews and write-ups.
• Technical opinion/reports writing.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to technical staff.

Quality Control – External audit

• Quality control engagement reviews.
• Monitoring internal quality reviews.  
• Review appropriateness of audit reports / audit opinions.
• Auditing standard compliance reviews.
• Implementation of the quality control standards.

Training

• Develop training courses / workshop sessions(as required).
• Present training to staff/clients.
• Development of training-related policies and procedures.

Consultation and support services

• Provide technical opinions on accounting matters.
• Perform technical reviews on Annual Financial Statements.
• Perform research on accounting and auditing matters and new standards.
• Provide guidance on the application of Companies Act legislation.
• Perform advisory and consulting role on listed entity audit engagements.
• Liaise with JSE on technical matters and assist in drafting response letters to JSE.
• Attend client/audit committee meetings for discussion of technical matters (as required).
• Liaise with technical support service clients.
• Provide ad-hoc technical advisory services to Nexia SAB&T directors and staff.

Development of material

• Develop guidance documents on new developments.
• Develop and update compliance checklists.
• Review and update of audit working papers for compliance with accounting standards.
• Develop and update internal manuals and guides.
• Development of accounting and legislative application guides.

Marketing

• Market technical consulting services to external clients.
• Market training services to external clients.

Thought Leadership

• Identify topics and publishing of thought leadership articles.
• Liaise with marketing department for publishing of articles and newsletters and marketing material.
• Research topics and develop material.
• Review and writing of articles (as required).

Additional Information:

• Operating Hours:  8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.   
• Candidates would be required to travel to client’s location as required from time to time, therefore own reliable transport is required.
