JOB SUMMARY:
My client currently requires the services of an experienced Instrumentation Technician.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Duties And Responsibilities

As part of the Engineering team, you will monitor various technical and mechanical systems, ensuring operation within specified parameters, regular maintenance schedules, and fast identification of non-operation or malfunction. You will accurately log all maintenance performed on equipment and work with operations and production teams to ensure the availability of critical systems, maintaining a well-inventoried reservoir of parts and spares as necessary.

• Conduct instrumentation evaluation and troubleshooting for electrical, pneumatic, electronic as well as programmable logic control (PLC) systems.

• Perform routine maintenance according to planned maintenance schedule and control and do instrument calibrations. • Ensure to commission instrumentation effective following with repair and replacement.

• Involve in evaluation of instrument performance to identify optimization and enhancement opportunities.

• Write programs and draw up electrical drawings for new installations and maintain electrical drawings of plant equipment.

• Compiling service reports and ensuring instrumentation history data is up to date.

• Liaising with Production regarding any critical instrumentation issues and ensuring that the problems are resolved.

• Conduct new installations and implement procedures.

• Assist with training of Production staff on new PLC controlled equipment.

• Ensure cost effective procurement of equipment/electronic spares.

• Ensure that all relevant literature, including guarantees are available.

• Any other legitimate activity as required by the company.

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• Qualified Instrument Technician with Tertiary qualification in Industrial Electronics.

• Good knowledge of PLC’s preferably Siemens & SCADA knowledge.

• 5 years relevant experience within a manufacturing environment.

• Attention to detail.

• Must have very strong knowledge of instrumentation.

• Electronic drawing knowledge.

• Understand Technical Procedures.

• Excellent written and verbal communication as well as interpersonal skills is essential.

• Computer literacy with general experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.

• Driver’s license with own transport.
