INVESTMENT & RISK ANALYST CONSULTANT – CBD, Cape Town

R430 000 – R470 000 Per Annum Negotiable based on Qualification and Years of relevant experience

Overview:

The Risk and Analytics team plays a crucial role in the servicing of various teams within the broader business.

Importantly, the team serves an important monitoring and oversight role to ensure compliance with client investment mandates and related risk limits/constraints and guidelines.

Qualification, Skills and Experience required:

• An appropriate Degree in any of the sciences and/or finance but with coding or programming and quants having been key subjects of the degree
• Relevant data manipulation and coding skills; a great ability to source and manipulate data from databases
• Relevant experience at a financial services, data analytics or related business; a minimum of 1 year or higher experience. Lower experience needs to be compensated by excellent/strong academics
• A candidate who is a quick learner; take-on responsibility and add value soon; has a good work ethic and attitude; a team player; teachable and shows initiative

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Onboarding of investment mandates and maintenance or monitoring of the external compliance systems provided by the various investment administrators
• Maintaining a coherent history of all the breaches as provided by all the administrators
• Maintaining a record of all exposure sheets for Listed Investments and ensure that the portfolios adhere to mandate requirements, especially those not measured and reported by the administrators
• Maintenance of the data integrity and composites within Stat-Pro (the risk-performance and attribution system)
• Systematisation of the equity TE monitoring process for listed equity exposures
• Maintenance of fixed income exposure measures and comparisons (ratings, maturities, duration, etc.) within the Multi-Asset and other applicable portfolio
• Systematization of the monthly reviews/checks of the investment returns (Listed and Unlisted) that are generated by Ocellics (our data warehouse)
• Systematization of checks in the variability of exposures, risks and returns among similar composites and similar client mandate portfolios
• Ensuring IRA input to fund factsheets are generated accurately and timely for all the funds within the group (Listed and Unlisted). Further, ensure that the data from externally generated factsheets are accurate and in line with internally generated data
• Play a supportive role in annual GIPS preparations and audits, ensuring that all the information required by auditors are accurate and in line with the GIPS standard
• Maintain a good working knowledge of all the workflows in Ocellics and Bloomberg and ensure they are functioning appropriately
• Ensure continuity of the risk process should the Risk Manager not be available (e.g., out of office, on leave, working on other projects, etc.)
• Effectively liaise and respond to requests from internal clients and third parties for relevant risk and performance information requests etc.
• Attend any relevant quant, strategy, risk management or related sell-side meetings, webinars, seminars, conferences, etc. with the Risk Manager as appropriate. Ensure that any additional value adding analysis is proposed and motivated at investment risk meetings
• Prepare all relevant data pertaining to Company listed portfolios for investment risk management meetings
• Maintain a good working relationship with all Company areas that utilise the IRA services (in particular the PMs, investment teams, operations and BD)
• Maintain great relations with all third-party service providers to the IRA team including Bloomberg, Ocellics Technologies, StatPro, Maitland and others
• Perform assignments delegated by the Risk Manager (RM) or via risk management meetings. Support with progressing risk, performance and related projects of the IRA team.
