IT Manager

SUMMARY:
Our client, a well-established company within the manufacturing sector, is looking for an experienced IT Manager to join their team in Sandton, Johannesburg.

Job Description:

The IT Manager’s main purpose shall be to plan, direct and oversee the activities and operations of all IT functions.  With the task of overseeing all IT functions of the company, the incumbent needs to have expert knowledge of the industry’s best practices and stay up to date with advancements within the industry.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Co-ordinate with all departments and ascertain areas to improve from a system point of view;
• Administer the budget, staff and physical facilities of the IT Department to drive excellence in information systems and technology to support short, medium and long-term business objectives
• Teach internal and external customers IT systems and new programmes on an ongoing basis;
• Accountable for the management, mentoring and career development of all IT team members
• Participate as required in sales/business development meetings with key customers
• Direct the preparation and implementation of policies, procedures and standards relating to information and telecommunication systems
• Supervising daily operations of network and server infrastructure
• Aligning IT infrastructure with current and future business requirements and goals and in alignment with the global company direction
• Managing IT budgets, forecasting and enforcing cost-effectiveness;
• Evaluating risk, developing network recover and backup processes
• Assessing and purchasing new and replacement hardware
• Assuring that IT activities are within the limits of applicable laws, codes and regulations
• Testing, troubleshooting and adjusting information systems to operate effectively; and
• Implementing security of the network, data and it’s storage and communication systems

Educational requirements:

• Grade 12
• Tertiary education in Computer Science and/ or Engineering or equivalent experience

Experience and skills required:

• Experience in customer-facing projects and activities delivering Commercial and IT solutions for customers’ B2B and B2C needs;
• 5 – 10 years Information Technology Management experience
• A proven track record of driving and defining complex IT strategy
• In-depth experience of negotiating with and managing third parties
• Hands on approach to resolving any form of IT related task and/or enquiry
• Understanding Budgets:  Opex / Capex
• Strong, collaborative leadership skills
• Project management skills including complex inter-company assignments
• Effective understanding of various governance compliance (i.e. POPI Act); and
• Knowledge of Microsoft D365 for operations beneficial
• Innovate with new products and keep the team motivated
• Exceptional communication skills – essential to explain complex IT concepts to non-technical colleagues and/or customers
• Experience of managing multiple IT disciplines, i.e. software development, technical support, systems architecture etc;
• A broad understanding of computer systems, applications, and operating systems, in particular management information systems and integrated sales/production management applications;
• Understanding Cloud and PABX solutions
• Solution oriented
• Security minded and implement best practice for the company
• Experience in a LAN / WAN environment
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Proven track record utilising strategic thinking
• Attention to detail and possess high level of analytical ability
