POSITION INFO:

Our client in Pietermaritzburg is seeking an experienced IT Support Engineer to manage IT activities across multiple regions, including Pietermaritzburg, Gauteng, and Cape Town. The role involves 1st to 3rd level support of infrastructure and the company’s BaaN IV ERP system (Infor LN).

Requirements:

Grade 12
Diploma/Technical certification or relevant degree
10+ years of IT experience
Strong knowledge of networking (VoiP, VPN), MS Office 365, and core Microsoft technologies (Windows Server, AD, SQL, etc.)
Expertise in hardware/software troubleshooting, data backup/recovery, and firewall/IPsec management
Strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills
Fluent in English and Afrikaans
Ability to work independently and in teams

Responsibilities:

Manage virtualized servers, desktops, laptops, and updates
Oversee backup/recovery processes and ERP system support
Implement and manage IT policies, network equipment, and security systems (firewalls, VPN)
Manage IT assets, website, email accounts, and user training
Handle IT purchases, vendor contracts, and proposals for IT improvements
Support user requests and provide technical training
