IT Team Leader

SUMMARY:
Assisting the IT Support Manager and Head of IT’s functions by supporting and managing the PTA IT team, back office servers and services

POSITION INFO:

Job Objectives

• Supporting all back office related products eg Active Directory, SQL, Managed Engine Products (ServiceDesk Plus , AD Manager Plus and Self Service Plus ) , FortiClient Anti-Virus, SCCM, Office 365,…
• Installing, configuring, updating and maintaining server software/hardware
• Managing and maintaining company’s backup systems.( BackupExec/ Veritas, Online backup )
• Managing technical services of Windows network infrastructure, including Active Directory, DNS , DHCP, Group Policy and SCCM
• Maintaining security within the network ( FortiClient , Mimecast)
• Maintaining and assisting with the IT infrastructure(Cabling room, LAN cabling, liaising with contractors)
• Monitoring & ensuring uptime of the IT infrastructure
• Staff management: Managing PTA desktop support team (dotted reporting line)
• I. SLA management
• II. Call escalations
• III. Desktop support technician projects
• IV. Asset management
• 2nd and 3rd level support of IT Helpdesk calls
• Ensure that the companies IT standards & policies are adhered to.

Job Skills

• Client liaison and customer service principles (Must be patient when dealing with difficult ‘customers’)
• Must be able to lead and work in a team environment.
• Ability to multitask
• Extensive Knowledge of LAN and WAN products and protocols
• Citrix experience highly advantageous
• Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills

• Must be able to prioritize effectively
• Handle stress very well and work under lots of pressure
• Deadline orientated
• Flexible with working hours. Availability to work afterhours –Overtime will be required
• Standby will be required
• Be prepared to sacrifice personal time to get the outstanding issue resolved or call done.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric
• CompTia A+ , N+ and IT Diploma
• MCSA / MCSE 2012 or later (Server Infrastructure) (IMPORTANT – Current to within 18 months)
• Leadership training will be an advantage
• 5 years’ experience in a System Engineer /Support Administrator role with exposure to complex IT systems in a medium to large enterprise environments consisting of a multi-site network or with 300 users or more
• A supervisory role for 2-3 years in a tech environment with responsibility for the partial or full team management function:

i. Coaching, training & development
ii. Performance review management
iii. Workforce planning
iv. Disciplinary & conflict resolution
v. Escalation of IT issues from other business units.
vi. Assisting the IT manager’s function.

• Experience on Backup solutions ( Eg, Backup Exec, eVault, ATTIX5, Avamar, Veeam)
• Experience on administering Network Security (Eg,FortiClient AV, Firewalling, Wireless, etc )
• Experience with Citrix-Microsoft Desktop Virtualization Solution ( Citrix XenDesktop and ZenApp versions 6 & 7 )
• Experience with reporting tools for gathering of IT or network related stats.
• Knowledge of server hardware –SAN’s, HP Servers, etc
• Extensive knowledge of the major desktop and laptop manufacturers (HP, Dell, Lenovo, etc)
