JOB SUMMARY:
An international manufacturing company based in the Cape Winelands, operating in the Food and Beverage industry is seeking to employ an Import and Export Controller to join their team.

The incumbent’s role will be to ensure that all applicable import and export regulations, policies and processes are met with regards to the import of raw materials and the export of the company’s products. As such, he/she will be the interface with the company’s freight forwarders and be required to comply with all customs clearance related matters.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Requirements:

Matric (Relevant tertiary degree/diploma will be advantageous)
At least five years’ work experience in a Supply Chain/Logistics related position, involving international freight forwarding (inbound and outbound), liaison with clearing agents and freight companies (road and air freight), preferably in the Food and Beverage Industry
Must have knowledge and experience of Inco-terms
Good numerical and computer skills (SAP experience required)
Good communication and people skills
Outgoing personality
Own transport

Responsibilities:

Close communication with Customer Service, Procurement, Production, Finance and Quality Control
Evaluate and apply all new customs related requirements on an ongoing basis
Obtain all relevant certification documents
Perform regular audits on all broker activities
Prepare documents and forms to move goods efficiently through import and export steps and procedures
Assist to obtain all required import permits and export licenses for all processes
Check and coordinate with Supply Chain Department to establish an efficient import / export classification and prepare tariff schedule
Administer all freight logistics
Provide optimal level of customer service and resolve all shipment issues
Track all import shipments and export shipments and forward weekly updates to relevant departments
Evaluate all items for import and ensure accuracy in all values and collaborate with customer brokers to provide clearance of all imports and maintain required documents
Prepare all export documentation and relevant certificates of conformance and other certificates that will be required by our customers and destination customs authorities
Co-ordinate all 3rd party pre-shipment inspections of all outgoing cargo
Perform audits on all import and export files on a regular basis
Perform all record-keeping processes and maintain records of all entries
Monitor and provide response to all customs inquiries and requests and obtain required product certifications for all export and import products for customs clearance
Review invoicing and related documents to ensure shipping, handling, storage charges, and customs fees are billed correctly
Monitor and update customs bond warehouse, assist and provide schedule for movements of the same to customs during audits
Execute different courses of action in general in accordance with instructions given by Management and the Supply Chain team
