JOB SUMMARY:
To accurately execute day to day freight clearing and forwarding operational activities in the agency.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Duties

Handle coordination and planning freight movement of imports and exports cargo
Cost freight movement and prepare estimates
Recording and planning land, air and sea shipment routes in line with customer service level agreements
Complete accurate shipment bookings and quotations/purchase orders
Handling and resolving customer queries in a timely manner
Arrange quotations for export/import customers and negotiate freight rates
Process documentation for import shipments providing clear and accurate customs clearance instructions
Provide guidance on export requirements including documentation, customs controls , INCO terms and pricing
Plan and contract carriers to meet transport requirements by issuing relevant booking confirmations
Ensure charges outlaid are correct and billed
Checks for potential demurrage and storage charges
Checks and keeps credit notes to the barest minimum
Ensures costing sheets are correct
Issue specific status reports to the customer all the time
Ensure system is kept UpToDate and all documentation correctly uploaded

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 with relevant Diploma or relevant shipping certification
+ - 5 Years imports and exports including sea and air freight experience
Knowledge of shipshape will be an added advantage
Customs and INCO terms knowledge critical for success in this role
Understanding freight rates and surcharges from various shipping lines
Highly organized and methodical approach
Ability to work independently and without supervision will be an added advantage
