POSITION INFO:

Position: Industrial / Mechanical Engineer – Motor Assembly Planning

Location: East London

Requirements:

• Grade 12
• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of five years of experience in industrial engineering, preferably within the automotive industry.
• Strong knowledge and experience in line supply, warehousing, and logistics operations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues within motor assembly processes.
• Proficient in utilizing data analysis tools and software to drive decision-making and process optimization.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement methodologies, and quality control practices.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work closely with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop efficient and effective motor assembly plans, ensuring adherence to the "just-in-time" principle.
• Analyze production data, including inventory levels, demand forecasts, and production schedules, to optimize motor assembly processes and minimize downtime.
• Coordinate with suppliers and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of motor components to the assembly line, while maintaining inventory accuracy.
• Conduct time studies and perform process analysis to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement within the assembly line.
• Develop and implement standardized work instructions, operating procedures, and quality control measures to ensure consistent and high-quality motor assembly.
• Utilize lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies to streamline processes, reduce waste, and increase overall productivity.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to provide input on design for manufacturability and assembly (DFMA) principles, ensuring smooth integration of motor components.
• Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to motor assembly, such as cycle time, throughput, and defect rates, and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in motor assembly and related processes.
