Industrial Relations Specialist

POSITION INFO:

Our client is seeking a well driven and assertive IR Specialist to join their team in Hazyview, Mpumalanga.

The Main Purpose of this position will be:

The IR Specialist works independently but with support from the HR Manager and Production Manager to manage the relationships between the Company and employees. The IR Specialist’s main duty is to ensure all employment conditions are managed and adhered to.

Position Responsibilities:

Manage all relevant employment conditions and related issues which include but are not limited to the following:

• Manage and foster good relationships between the Company, employees and Trade unions;
• Investigate and assist to resolve industrial disputes and grievances in the workplace;
• Advise and inform the Company on anticipated IR risks;
• Develop, implement and administer IR and HR policies in the Company;
• Advise Management on proper procedures to be followed during disciplinary and grievance enquiries;
• Represent the Company at the CCMA/Bargaining Council in Conciliation and Arbitration matters;
• Partake in negotiations related to rates of pay and conditions of employment;
• Build and maintain good working relationships with trade unions;
• Provide first line support in terms of any queries/concerns related to all conditions of employment;
• Ensure pro-active appraoch in dealing with IR matters on the shop-floor;
• Manage access control at the Factories;
• Manage absenteeism, analyse trends and make recommendations to Management to decrease absenteeism;
• Ensure all employee benefits and relevant administration are adequately administered and processed with the relevant Funds/Schemes;
• Manage and assist with the recruitment process as well as drafting of employment contracts;
• Manage industrial and protest action where applicable;
• Ensure Labour Peace in the workplace;
• Compile monthly/statutory reports;
• Keep abreast of all labour and industrial relations legislation;
• Update and educate Management on changes in labour legislation and trends;
• Facilitate and administer the entire process of deceased employees.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Diploma / Degree in Industrial relations will be an advantage;
• Minimum of 10-15 years of IR experience in a medium to large organisation;
• Computer software skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook;
