Inspector - Air Traffic Services

Job Purpose

Safety Regulation and Oversight of ATSUs, ATS personnel and Airspace Management in accordance with Parts 172 and 65 of the Civil Aviation Regulations.

Key Performance Areas

Safety Oversight

• Conduct initial, renewal and surveillance inspections of air traffic service providers
• Ensure completeness of all inspections of ATSUs as required by the annual inspection plan
• Manage inspection monitor, follow up on findings and propose enforcement when necessary
• Regulate airspace activities including NASCOM Secretariat duties
• Approve service provider documents e.g., SMS, MOP training programmes

Quality Standards

• Ensure compliance with Civil Aviation Regulations and ICAO standards in the field of operations of Air Traffic Services (ATS), Air Traffic Management Planning, Investigation of ATS incidents and database management
• Review of ATS documents
• File maintenance and general office administration
• Prompt response to queries and adherence to deadlines

Communications and Safety Promotion

• To project a satisfactory image of the organisation to all stakeholders
• To provide industry feedback to the Manager
• Participate in safety promotion activities such as workshops, publications and seminars
• Collect traffic movement and incidents statistics

Air Traffic Service Licensing

• Enforcing Part 65 of the Civil Aviation Regulations

Liaison

• Coordination with all stakeholders in respect of the functioning of NASCOM and to provide input at any ATS forum
• Participation in international and regional meetings and liaison with regard to counterparts
• Liaison with CAMU for FAU approval
• Give assistance to other divisions

Requirements

Minimum Qualification

• Grade 12 with English, Maths and Science and Air Traffic Control License with Aerodrome and Approach or Area Rating

Ideal Qualification

• Radar ratings, Instructor’s rating, Designated Examiner; Internal Auditing Certificate

Experience

• 7 years of Air Traffic Operations experience
