The Role: Instrumentation Technician
As an Instrumentation Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and optimising control system components that drive plant operations. This hands-on role ensures the availability and efficiency of key processing equipment, supporting production targets and overall plant reliability.
Key Responsibilities

Minimum 5 years plant maintenance experience in instrumentation (8 years preferred)

Conduct routine inspections, fault finding, and repairs on control system components

Install and maintain control systems, valves, and other instrumentation equipment

Perform planned maintenance, overhauls, and replacements as required

Analyse blueprints and specifications to ensure accurate repairs and installations

Program, fault find, and maintain PLC-based systems, VSD drives, and measuring instruments (scales, weighbridges, level detectors, temperature controllers)

Develop and maintain registers for critical spares and sub-assemblies

Work closely with maintenance officers to resolve inspection and audit findings

Ensure accurate documentation, job cards, and spares inventory are maintained

Uphold strict compliance with safety, health, environmental, and security standards
About You

N2 plus Trade Certificate with a Code 8 licence (minimum requirement)

T3/S4 or N6 plus Trade Certificate with Code 10 licence (advantageous)

Proven plant maintenance background with strong PLC and VSD knowledge

Experience working with diamond plants, DMS, and recovery circuits is highly advantageous

Solid understanding of instrumentation best practices and engineering standards

Computer literacy in MS Office

Clear criminal record (security/police clearance required)

Strong teamwork and coaching abilities, with resilience under pressure
