An interior design studio, specialising in refined residential and commercial interiors, is looking for an experienced Intermediate/Mid-Level Interior Designer to join their creative team in Umhlanga.
POSITION INFO:
Duties and Responsibilities: Design & Creativity: Produces strong, considered design concepts aligned with Portfolio's aesthitic. Develops moodboards, material palettes and furniture selections independently. Demonstrates good understanding of proportion, scale, colour and amterials. Can take a brief and develop it into a cohesive design Brings ideas rather than relying heavily on senior designers for solutions. Technical Drawings & Documentation: Produces accurate floor plans, elevations, sections and joinery drawings. Understands construction drawings and architectural plans. Can translate design intent into practical, buildable details. Correctly specifies dimensions, finishes and materials. Identifies potential construction issues before drawings go to site\/suppliers. Maintains drawing standards and follows Portfolio templates\/SOPs. Project Management & Deadlines: Meets agreed internal deadlines. Keeps project schedules up to date. Follows projects through from design development to implementation. Coordinates effectively with suppliers, contractors and the senior designer. Flags delays or problems before they become urgent. Takes ownership of allocated areas of a project. Procurement & Attention to Detail: Obtains accurate supplier quotations. Checks quotes carefully before presenting them. Ensures specifications match the approved design. Tracks orders, lead times and deliveries. Identifies discrepancies between quotes, orders and invoices. Maintains accurate schedules. Understands the financial implications of design decisions. Client & Team Communication: Communicates professionally with clients and suppliers. Responds within agreed timeframes. Presents design ideas confidently. Takes feedback constructively. Keeps senior designers informed of important project developments. Works collaboratively with the wider team. Doesn't allow issues to sit unresolved. Ownership, Initiative & Development: Takes ownership without needing constant direction. Proactively identifies what needs to be done. Finds solutions rather than simply presenting problems. Helps junior team members where appropriate. Continually develops technical and design skills. Contributes ideas to improve studio processes.
